The Seeds We Plant

a site-specific installation of 70 original artworks nestled into the landscape along the Woodland Trail at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

Oct. 2022-April 2023

"If we just act with awareness … we find that art is a wonderful way to share our peacefulness," –Peace is Every Step.
I have read this book by Zen Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh many times in my life. He reminds me that I don't get to choose if my path will be smooth or rocky, easy or difficult. But every person decides from moment to moment if they will sow seeds of anger and frustration or kindness and peace as they walk. This installation was born out of the emotional healing I experienced spending time outdoors and looking at several site-specific artworks many years ago. Walk the Woodland Trail at the Wildflower Center and experience the interaction of my painted wood sculptures with trees, rocks, grass, and sunlight. Simply enjoying the world around us can be a powerful way to move forward.
