Colorful Closings: a Party for “The Seeds We Plant”

  • Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center 4801 La Crosse Avenue Austin, TX, 78739 United States (map)

Directions from the main entrance to the Woodland Trail, where you’ll discover “The Seeds We Plant”

After more than 6 months conversing with nature at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, “The Seeds We Plant” is moving on.

Alicia Philley’s site-specific installation of seventy sculptural paintings on the Woodland Trail has survived the heat of late summer, a flash flood, an icy freeze and the springtime cycles of rain/heat/rain/cold/heat. The gardens are blooming and the paint colors are still singing in harmony.

On April 25th, during the Wildflower Center’s “Tuesday Twilights” event, meet up with Alicia on the trail, raise a glass in celebration, and join in a fun game of discovery.

The event theme is color: Choose one hue from the swatches below, and wear it head to toe. Then stroll the Woodland trail until you find your artwork match. Take photos! Share them with Alicia; a final memento to the past 6 months that were filled with creation and discovery.

As one chapter ends, another one begins…

Wondering where the artwork will go next? Some are slated for a summer exhibit (more details coming!). Some will travel to private homes (Interested in owning one or a few? Contact me for details). While others will go back to Mothership Studios in San Marcos, awaiting their turn to plant more joyful energy out in the world.

Let’s give them some love before they journey off to new environs!
