The Latest From My Studio

I'm so happy to share my work with you!

It's been a very busy summer and fall. Right now I'm showing my work through the Austin Studio Tour sponsored by Big MediumSee my website for links to videos, online events and images of what I've been working on this crazy year. I'll be live-streaming from my studio every day of the tour from 1:30-2:00, talking about my art-making process and current projects like my latest laser cut wood panel commission.

I've also created an installation in my front yard that's my homage to color, safe community connection and the healing power of light and nature. There's also a lot of little crocheted mushrooms involved, because, why not? Drive by 1915 Miles Ave., or see the video on my website about how this little bit of classic Austin 'weirdness' came about.

I may have moved out of my shared studio space at Third Space Arts, but I'm still connected to the artists there and have contributed to their whimsical outdoor installation dubbed "Bolmyland". If you are up for wearing a mask and getting out, head over to Bolm Rd. There will also be the contactless BadLucky Market on sight to fill that art-buying need.

Outside of Austin, I currently have paintings hanging in three galleries, including a really lovely show called 'With the Grain' at Equity Gallery in New York. As you'd have guessed, the artwork all focuses on visual or metaphorical representations of woodgrain. Here is a thoughtful article and interview with the show's curator Patricia Fabricant, in the Brooklyn-based arts publication Artspiel.

The other two galleries are in Kansas City and when it's safe to travel again, I look forward to getting out to visit the David Jones Gallery and the Kansas City Stockyards Gallery.

In other exciting news, one of my paintings was awarded Best in Show at the 620 Art Gallery abstract art show in September. This lovely gallery and arts studio opened over the summer in Round Rock and I was so honored to have received the top prize.

At the end of November I will be showing my work in person at the historic Niell-Chochran House Museum's Art on the Lawn, Holiday Edition. Enjoy the outdoors, hear holiday carolers and get started on your holiday shopping with local painters, jewelers, potter and glass artisan. RSVP to secure a spot for this limited, on the lawn, festive afternoon. Masks required!
