What happens when you collaborate?

Striking Counterpoints and Lyrical Conversations

Emily Hoyt-Weber and I have together been talking, sketching, photographing and then separately creating our art since January. Her sculptures paired with my paintings are filled with our conversations about line, color, shadow, volume, depth, movement, light and so much more.

I am so excited to invite you to the show that has emerged from our collaboration, at Link & Pin Gallery, running from September 27-October 13. The opening reception (invite here!) is happening on Saturday, Sept. 28 and artist talk is Sunday, Oct. 13. We hope you'll stop by and take a look!

Creating a Catalog, it Takes a Village

The works that this collaboration have yielded are such an important next step in our artistic process that Emily and I are also spending much time and energy to create and print a professional catalog to accompany the show. We successfully ran a Kickstarter campaign to pay a photographer, arts writer and printer. If you would like to get in on the action, there are eight days left to become a patron, with lots of goodies (or incentives) to be had: a signed copy of the catalog, a limited edition print, or an original art piece! This is the first time I've crowd-sourced a project; it has helped us pay the bills and also honed my marketing skills a bit more. Really, who doesn't want to see me and Emily "act casual" in our intro video? Ha Ha!

And a Group Show in South Austin!

I'm also thrilled to be a part of the Flash Collection show at the new gallery Vault Stone Shop. Opening is Sept. 27th, so yep, I'll be seeing you two nights in a row. ;) Not only is this a gorgeous space run by a fantastic curator (and stone carver, what?!), it's also in my part of town. I love living in South Austin...some of you may have been to my home studio this past WEST...and the scene here continues to grow. Everyone needs to support the new art venues in town so they can stick around. And with a max price of $200 per piece and 20 artists showing, you're sure to find original art to love and own!
